Autograph letter signed : Cintra, to King Louis-Philippe of France, 1838 Aug. 6.

Inviting him to be godfather to the child the Queen is expecting, and remarking on political affairs in Portugal. Ferdinand estimates that matters have taken a better turn, though they are not yet too reassuring. He considers the lack of money to be the chief reason of Portugal's misfortune but finds it a most difficult task to remedy this evil.
